Matteo is the best teacher I’ve had, and I travelled and trained at many other gyms but nothing beats the feeling of taking the tram here coming a bit late for warmups and staying late training 2-3h a day 6 times a week.

Stopped in during a short break in travel activity. Whole group was extremely hospitable and the class was a good format- warm up, technique, live positional drilling of technique, and rolls. Solid skill level, good intensity, and all were considerate when rolling. Highly recommend if you are traveling in the area.

Coach Matteo was awesome! He is a super nice guy and a great instructor. I am in town from Las Vegas and didn't travel with a gi. He let me borrow a gi and a black belt--he was very welcoming. The culture of the gym was very friendly, people were very helpful and open to learning. Everyone was great to roll with. The facility was very clean.

I strongly recommend training at Rio Grappling. Thanks again for the great training!

I found this school through Google reviews and emailed Professor Matteo about the possibility of joining them for a month. The BJJ school is located in a large one story building that is about a 30 minute bus ride from the city historical center. It practically drops you off at their entrance. They're co-joined with a spacious gym (lots of free weights, machines and treadmills etc). The quoted daily BJJ drop in is 12 Euros, monthly fee is 59 Euros, if you want to use the weight gym only it's 59 Euros as well for the month but if you want to do BJJ and the gym the cost is 59 + 29 Euros combined for a month. They take credit cards.

They BJJ gym is accessed to one side through an issued card turn style and the gym through the other side turn style.
A ton of lockers (bring your own lock). Everything from shower access (4 minutes/ 0.50 Euros, bring a towel), hairdryer electric wall plugs, to an energy drink dispenser is accessed via your issued card swipe wall sensor pads next to each targeted item, Load up the card with Euros credits on a machine at the front desk (they'll help you). There are no water fountains anywhere I saw so bring your own or fill it from a faucet in the locker room. Both the gym, the lockers and the mats are super clean. Most people put away their weights.

Professor Matteo, and his wife Katherine (brown belt) could not be nicer and welcoming. I've only attended one class so far but Professor even explained the drills in English for me. Katherine is an American so she is obviously fluent. Great technique drilling and some light rolling on my first day.

Highly recommend both this place and the gym across the hall. It's worth the bus trip. You won't be disappointed.

Very nice and skilled black belt teacher Matteo Calamandrei.
There are gi and nogi classes twice a day from Monday to Friday and a class on Saturday. There is also athletic training.
In the Kodokan01 gym, in the monthly price (60 €) you have included all classes of gi and nogi and the fitness room, but it’s not included the shower (0.50 € each one, 4 minutes) and the hairdryer (0.25 € each one, 4 minutes).
You have also to pay annual price (40 €).
Kodokan01 gym has security locker (you need your personal padlock to close).
Kodokan01 gym has the park for car and bike (free the first 2 hours, then you pay 0.50 € every hour).

Io mi ci alleno da circa 4 anni e oltre ad essere una famiglia rgc Firenze offre molto. Un grande head coatch molto umile e disponibile, un tatami enorme dove allenarsi , compagni di allenamento molto competitivi con presenza di cinture nere, infine la possibilità di allenarsi quando vuoi con gi o senza.

Faccio parte di questo gruppo dal 2011 e da allora ad oggi molte cose sono cambiate...dal numero dei componenti che negli anni ha avuto un incremento incredibile, alla palestra che ci ospita che vanta ben 250 mq di tatami, agli orari che da questa stagione offrono la possiilita' di allenarsi dal lunedi al sabato anche ben due volte al giorno. Quello che non e' cambiato e' la disponibilita' e le straordinarie capacita' di insegnamento del Maestro Matteo Calamandrei, che guida questo gruppo con entusiasmo portando anche molti ragazzi a competere nelle gare piu' importanti nazionali e internazionali.

RGC Firenze è una squadra che proviene da tutti i ceti sociali uniti dalla comune passione per il Jiujitsu brasiliano. Ogni lezione è divertente e tecnica. Grandi compagni di allenamento e guidati da un professionista, Matteo Calamandrei. La scuola accoglie spesso gli ospiti che viaggiano per visitare Firenze. Accogliente atmosfera familiare. Ha una sala completamente attrezzata di 2000 mq per il sollevamento pesi e il cross training.
