Out of respect for all our guests, we feel it is necessary to clarify some aspects of your review. Describing our property as a "scam" is a very serious accusation and does not reflect the facts.

When you made your reservation through Booking.com, the rate you selected clearly stated the cancellation terms, which were also confirmed in your booking confirmation: cancellation was free of charge up to 7 days before arrival. After that deadline, the full stay was subject to the applicable cancellation fee. These conditions were accepted at the time of booking and are applied transparently and consistently to all guests, regardless of the reason for cancellation.

We understand that unexpected events, including the most difficult ones, can occur. However, we cannot make exceptions to the agreed booking conditions on a case-by-case basis. Unfortunately, late cancellations are a situation we face on a daily basis, and maintaining clear and equal policies for everyone is the only way to ensure fairness towards all our guests.

We would also like to clarify that no one ended the phone call abruptly. Your request was handled with courtesy, and you were informed that we were unable to authorize a refund different from what was provided for in the selected booking conditions.

Regarding the price of your stay, it was clearly displayed before the reservation was confirmed and was freely accepted at the time of booking. Likewise, the statement that we had "a lot of availability" does not correspond to the actual situation of the hotel: at the time of your review, our property, consisting of 65 rooms, had only three rooms available, none of which were of the category you had reserved.

Finally, we would like to point out that the reviews you referred to concern similar situations in which some guests requested exceptions to cancellation policies. In those cases as well, we have always responded with the same transparency and consistency that distinguish our work.

For guests who require maximum flexibility in the event of unforeseen circumstances, we always recommend considering travel insurance, which can provide protection precisely in situations such as the one you experienced.

We would also like to take this opportunity to provide some additional information regarding access to the beach. Portonovo Bay is a protected natural area, characterized by a very limited network of paved roads and restricted vehicle traffic in order to preserve its unique environment and charm. During the busiest periods, access by car is permitted only to hotel guests and local residents, significantly reducing the number of vehicles within the bay.

For this reason, all vehicles travel at very low speeds, paying close attention to pedestrians walking along the roads and the unpaved paths throughout the area.

Our private little beach is a secluded cove, appreciated for its privacy, intimate size, and beautiful setting. However, it is just one of several beaches in Portonovo Bay available to our guests. For families with children, or for those who prefer an easier walk, we recommend the beaches located to the north, near the pier, which are just a short distance away and are particularly well suited to these needs.
